Morning and afternoon shifts that rotate on their own

At many veterinary clinics the team shares out the hours: one week a vet consults in the morning and the next in the afternoon, so there's always someone in and nobody is always stuck with the late shift. Redoing the rota every Monday is the job nobody wants, and the day it's forgotten, the appointment goes to someone who isn't there.

With rotating shifts you set it up just once: you create the shifts with their hours, say every how many weeks the cycle repeats and which shift each person does each week. From then on ClaudIA only offers each vet the hours of their shift that week, and the calendar shades out what isn't theirs.

One-off changes are noted with their date: two vets who swap shifts, someone doing a full day. Holidays and absences still take priority, and whoever doesn't rotate keeps their usual hours.

How it works

  1. In Team, on the Shifts tab, you create the shifts with their hours: morning and afternoon, for example.
  2. You say every how many weeks the cycle repeats and who's on mornings this week.
  3. You mark who rotates and which shift they do each week; everyone else keeps their hours.
  4. Before saving you see the next eight weeks: it's exactly what ClaudIA will offer.
Tuesday's check-up
On Sunday night an owner asks for her cat's annual check-up on Tuesday morning with Dr Gil, who is on afternoons that week. ClaudIA offers the doctor's times for that week and books her in at five. Nobody had to remember to change the rota.
